Foot And Leg Pain

A Biomechanical Assessment is an in depth appointment to ascertain the reason for your foot and leg pain. For parents, you may start to notice your child "walks funny" and that is also a good time to bring them in for evaluation.

We take a full history, assess your body structure, your muscle strength and joint range of motion, perform a video gait analysis (watch and record the way you walk) and distinguish exactly where your pain is. Using all the information gathered from the various tests, we will be able to diagnose your condition and devise a treatment plan specifically for you.

This sort of appointment is packed full of information and it is advised that you wear shorts so that we can see exactly what is going on with your feet and lower limb. We also recommend bringing your shoes with you.

Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Ingrown toenails can be extremely painful. Some ingrown toenails can be conservatively managed with regular Podiatry care. However, if they are constantly getting infected, recurring too often or causing too much pain, nail surgery is a quick, easy and permanent solution to stop the ingrown nail from ever recurring.

We perform this surgery in our clinic under local anaesthesia. We take a small slither of nail from the base of the nail bed and apply a chemical called phenol to prohibit that small slither of nail from growing back. It's a quick procedure; finished in under an hour. We get great results from this surgery which allows you to get back on your feet faster, doing the things you love - pain free!

Children’s Podiatry

At Sarah Sweeney Podiatry, we accurately diagnose and treat your child’s condition in a fun and relaxed environment. Shockwave Therapy EMS

The most common conditions we treat with EMS Shockwave include:

  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Heel Pain

  • Arch Pain
  • Shin splints
  • Ball of Foot
  • Plantar Plate Tear
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Bunion Pain
  • Leg Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Painful trigger

How does EMS Shockwave work?
Shockwave can help you in many ways and is designed to:

  • Boost blood flow and stimulate the growth of new blood vessels to aid in tissue remodelling and healing
  • Improve tissue repair by releasing molecules that lessen pain and inflammation
  • Lessen pain by activating neural networks
  • Release trigger points

Is shockwave therapy safe?

Shockwave is safe especially when compared to surgical alternatives and approved by the FDA and the TGA. There is no chance of infection because it is non-invasive which means it does not penetrate the skin. Your podiatrist will always determine whether Shockwave is appropriate for you before suggesting it as a course of treatment.
